This pillowcase is a great project for a beginner! It also makes a fun gift for kids (or kids at heart) as you can make one in fabric to suit whatever their current love is. All of the sewing is straight lines which is great for beginners. Also, all of the seams are enclosed, so there is now need to worry about the edges of your fabric fraying. It takes 1 yard of fabric for the main part of your pillowcase, 1/3 yard for the cuff (wide band at the opening), and 1/4 yard for the contrasting band between the main fabric and the cuff.
