5 Part Beginner’s Sewing Class Tuesday Evening


5 week Beginner’s Sewing Class- Make a potholder, pillow cover, pajamas, and a skirt.

Tuesday Evenings 6-8pm, Mar 5, 12, 19, 26, Apr 2.

Week 1 we will be doing an introduction to your sewing machine and working on sewing straight lines while making a pot-holder. Supplies: You will need a sewing machine, pins, seam ripper, thread, and fabric scissors. You will need these supplies each week as well as the supplies listed on the individual week supplies. If you don’t have a sewing machine, please let me know so I can have one available for you.

Week 2 we will be making a pillow cover with a button closure to fit a 16” pillow form. Supplies: You will need 1/2 yd of your choice of fabric. (It can be decorator fabric or cotton. Decorator will last longer and give a crisper look. ) You will need thread to match your fabric, 3 buttons, and a 16” pillow form to put your cover on at the end.

Week 3 and 4 we will be making a pair of pajama pants Supplies: you will need 2 yards of fabric, thread to match your fabric, 1yd of 3/4” wide non-roll (woven) elastic. If you choose plaid or a large print, buy 3 yards of fabric.

Week 4 and 5 we will be making a skirt with a zipper. Supplies:  You will need a pattern for a skirt with a zipper, fabric and zipper as described on the pattern (we will discuss this on week 3), thread to match fabric.
